Church grieves with loved ones and neighbors of shooting victim

One of our signs inviting the community to our Christmas outreach Sunday stands at the entrance to Mohegan Park apartments, where a 26-year-old mother of two young boys was shot and killed early Wednesday. The killer, who is still at large, waited in the hallway before shooting Jaclyn Wirth multiple times through the door. Her 7-year-old son and 2-year-old son were home at the time. Members of our church knew the victim. Other members live in the same complex. Tonight’s vigil held in honor of Wirth is the second vigil for a murder victim in Greeneville that Peniel pastors have attended in the last five months. The church universal has no time to waste: in the midst of growing darkness, we must shine the light of Jesus. When Isaiah prophesied about the birth of Christ, he said his name would be called “Mighty God.” He is mighty — greater than any evil. We must lift up the name of Jesus!

Encounter with God
On Labor Day weekend, 2013, more than 100 people attended a retreat organized by Peniel Church at Avon Old Farms Hotel with the purpose of having an "Encounter with God." Through a series of dynamic Bible studies, times of reflection and more, God visited the people, miraculously setting individuals free from life-long problems and healing wrecked relationships. Our next one will be held May 2-4. Call (860) 861-4246 for more information.
